On Saturday, May 29 Sensei Pete Daypuck taught a weapons seminar in Mexico City, Mexico.
For 5 hours he taught the students at Mas Oyama Gymnasio, who study kyuki-do, two traditional bo katas...shu-shi nokon and matsuhiga nokon. Sensei Gilberto Bandala, 6th dan, graciously hosted. Below is Sensei Pete's description of his trip:
"I was very fortunate to stay at Professor Bandala's house,
meet his family, and
live and eat as a Mexican for 4 days (Mrs. Bandala is a most excellent
cook), and also tour around the inner city a little. On the fourth day we
took a 1 hour trip to see and climb the ancient pyramids of Teotihuacan."
"In the pictures of me in my gi, we are standing on the
Pyramid of the Sun. It
is the largest pyramid in Mexico and is the 3rd largest pyramid in the
world. In the background you can see the Pyramid of the Moon, the second
largest pyramid at Teotihuacan."
Sensei Pete said it was a wonderful trip and a great experience. The
people were friendly, the students were attentive, and the food was delicious.
